This gemstone necklace features seven hand-cut banded blue opals — their naturally occurring swaths of soft grey-brown and powdery blue on full display, recalling the sections of layered hues in Mark Rothko's canvases. Interspersed with Devil aquamarine and artisanal sterling silver links, each stone is placed in a symmetrical design and matched for pattern type: vertical stripes opposite vertical, horizontal opposite horizontal, with faceting that catches the light.
A textured sterling toggle clasp finishes the piece, with link size and placement allowing the toggle bar to clasp at three shorter lengths.
