Helen Frankenthaler's Mountains and Sea (1952) is most often recognized by its range of pinks, greens and blues. But warm, sandy tones run through the composition too — and there's one delicious mustardy area in particular, surrounded by pools of luminous color, where these earrings draw their inspiration.
